The universe is the greatest mysteries of all, but google algorithm perhaps its closest competition. Last night google update their page rank and i’ve seen many websites suffered from it. by checking from firefox useful ’search status’ add on we can see some of the most popular websites (at least i checked those on my niche which is web development) was having a terrible drop.

nobody can be sure of how the page rank algorithm really works, one time you can enjoy having a great status of 6 and when the day comes you are on 3. if your life depends on it -which i mean you capitalize your blog-  than this is truly a disaster.

one of my site is just enjoying its PR 5 for only few months, ads space are  starting to fill out, text links are on its maximum capacity and offer are coming from sponsored reviews but suddenly this morning i found out the site PR has drop to 3.

i believe many customer who purchased ad space on my website will get really disappointed, they are paying to get backlinks from a trusted website -at least from google point of view- and now they ads are displayed from just an average PR 3 website…ouch.

This is a classic case of monopoly in business. once a company rules certain market then it will try to guard its power by kicking out compoetitors. Microsoft done it and now google does it.

Google owns one of the largest ad management on the web, adsense. Millions of blogger getting their fortune from it, then other companies start to compete with google by offering new ad management or some other methods of money making, some are better  than google like buysellads, textlinkads, reviewme, ppp etc.

but one thing is for sure, all those ad system/money making methods rely on google to set the standard of site popularity such google page rank, the rank determine whether a site is trustworthy and having good number of visitors.

a website with great page rank will have other companies fighting over ad space, text link or review from them and that means a good income for the website owner.

I know this sounds like a crazy conspiracy theory, but if google can play around with page rank, it means they can do some kind of character assasination to your website making it untrusted, unpopular and losing customers and of course loosing income.

this theory means they can just cut you off from the web maps and perhaps getting your website bankrupt, or you can just play safe and make money only from adsense.

am i the only one who believe in this conspiracy theory?
